Staff Wellness & Culture At CTI Financiers

Our People Come First

As founder and CEO, Mike Russon is a recognised business leader and marketing guru with over 35 years of experience, and a deep, long-standing passion for people. He truly believes that there is a line in the middle: above that line is a ‘happy line’ and below it is an unhappy line. Everything we do here is designed to help our staff stay above that happy line and avoid slipping below it.

On our Benevolence Page, you will read about the many ways CT International has given back to individuals, churches, and charitable organisations outside of the company.

Here, we want to share what we do within our business for our people. Many say “your customer is your greatest asset.”

At CT International, we agree — to an extent. However, we believe our staff are our greatest asset.

When staff are cared for and supported, they naturally take care of our clients.

Yes, as business owners we all know that sometimes staff disappoint or let us down. It happens.
But what about the many who don’t?
Those who show up every day.
Those who care.
Those who go the extra mile.
As the Bible says, God loves a cheerful giver.
From the very start of the business, it has been within our leadership’s heart to give back to those who are deserving and in need — and to do so consistently.

A Culture Built on Care, Consistency & Celebration

We intentionally go the extra mile — not once-off, but throughout the year — to keep morale high, energy balanced, and people supported both professionally and personally.

Why this matters

  • Low staff turnover
  • High engagement, motivation, and team pride

Happy, energised staff produce strong results.
Tired, unsupported staff don’t.

This understanding guides our annual wellness rhythm.

Our Staff Culture, In Their Own Words

Our Annual Wellness Rhythm: Staying “Above the Line”

By design, we help our teams stay above the “happy line” — emotionally, mentally, and socially.

What We Do Throughout the Year

  • Annual Strategy Planning Day
The CEO kicks off the year with leaders across the group to set direction, expectations, and goals.
  • Weekly Monday Team Meetings
Managers meet with staff to check in, discuss priorities, and offer support.
  • Open Door Policy
    Leadership is accessible and engaged.

  • Rate Your Manager Feedback Cycles

Also, we’ve included a new initiative: not only do staff have the chance to ‘Rate Your Manager,’ but our CEO himself also elects to be rated regularly. This way, he can continually improve and be a better leader for everyone.

  • Lucky Draws
Prizes include weekends away, cash prizes, appliances, Takealot vouchers, lunches, and more.
  • Chairman’s Award
A special recognition for exceptional contribution, leadership, and integrity.

The Circle of Champions is one of the highest recognitions within CT International. Only 25% of staff qualify.

Giving Back – Inside & Beyond Our Walls

Our commitment to generosity extends beyond our business.

You’ll find examples of our outreach to churches, charities, and individuals in need on our Benevolence Page.

But equally important is how we care for our own people when they need it most — quietly, consistently, and without expectation.
